The best of these stories made me think of a more erotic version of Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett. Wilder uses details to paint a picture of a very dark world, and this was especially the case at the end of Amarillo - "A chill breeze, leaving a pall in my heart, gusted down the aisle. It whistled like Daddy's belt, causing me to remember the sting of its buckle."

Name of the Game is the opening short story in Eric Wilder's collection of short stories by the same name. Much like life, the stories run the gamut from touching to raw, but all are entertaining.
